Russian air defenses shot down dozens of Ukrainian drones headed for Moscow on Sunday night, while two of the four airports in the Russian capital were closed for security reasons, authorities said.
Within six hours, the air defense shot down 34 enemy drones, the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergey Sobyanin, said in a post on the Telegram platform.
Shortly after midnight (Greece time), Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports were closed for approximately 2.5 hours, as announced by the Russian civil aviation service (Rosaviatsiya) citing security reasons.
Further south, in the Tula region, 24 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in the early hours of Monday, as the governor of the region, Dmitry Milyaev, announced in a post on the Telegram platform.
There were no reports of damage during the Ukrainian drone strike. Russian authorities do not disclose the full scale of damage caused by Ukrainian attacks in the country, unless they involve strikes on civilian targets.
So far, there is no official announcement from the Ukrainian side. Kiev has said its attacks are aimed at destroying infrastructure considered vital to the conduct of Russian military operations in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone struck a bus in Russia’s Bryansk region, killing the driver and injuring five passengers, local authorities said. The regional governor, Alexander Bogomaz, says in his post on the Telegram platform that the attack took place in the Pokhar community.
Yesterday Sunday, one person was killed and 13 others were injured when a Russian drone hit a bus near the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, as informed by the regional governor Oleh Khrykhorov.
