Erdoğan and Putin “engage” for Akuyu: The dispute over the nuclear plant has been resolved

“We have reached an agreement on Akuyu,” Erdogan told reporters after a visit to Uzbekistan

The president of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan stated that his country and Russia have struck a deal that will resolve the dispute over a nuclear power plant being built in Listenin southern Turkey, bringing back to the project the Turkish company that had undertaken its execution, according to today’s reports from the NTV network and other media.

“We have reached an agreement on Akuyu,” Erdogan told reporters after a visit to Uzbekistan.

Yesterday Friday, two sources told Reuters that the Turkish construction company IC Ictas, which had undertaken the construction of the station to be managed by the Russian Rosatomhad returned to the deal.

Last month, Russia’s state-run nuclear power company terminated the contract with IC Ictas, citing “numerous violations,” APE reports.

The picture with the two presidents is a joke in Uzbekistan

On the sidelines of the 22nd Summit of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which is being held in Uzbekistan, the presidents of Russia and Turkey had the opportunity to talk face to face.

The camera captured Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Vladimir Putin walking in the lobby of the summit smiling, like two good friends and talking casually.

In fact, the Turkish president has caught Putin on the hook – more enthusiastic – while his Russian counterpart is more neutral.

It should be noted that in his statements, the Russian president publicly praised Erdogan, saying that “he is seriously contributing to the settlement of a number of serious issues – such as energy and grain – that have arisen from the war in Ukraine.”

For his part, Erdogan denounced “Armenia’s persistently aggressive stance” in the war with Azerbaijan, which “does not respect the terms of the peace agreement” concluded at the time under the auspices of Russia.

In another incident that did not go unnoticed, during their bilateral meeting, the first statements in front of journalists and sneering at Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Putin called him “prime minister”, instead of president.
