In Renmin Ribao or People’s Daily, on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Xi Jinping delivered “important speech, strengthening solidarity and cooperation and promoting the building of a closer SCO community”. On the cover, above, two photos, one with all full members and observers, the other with members only, both with Xi in the center.

Also with the larger picture, the Global Times or Huanqiu Shibao, an English-language newspaper linked to Renmin Ribao, headlined that “OCX expands membership and international appeal and Xi outlines priorities of solidarity and shared benefit.”

On the Guancha portal, listening to academics, “This meeting marks an epoch and will change the strategic pattern of the Eurasian continent”.

In India, part of the vehicles used the larger photo, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi also at the center, in the case of One India, and others made a cutout with the scene focused on him, smiling, and on Xi (above), in the case of the India Today. Also the Hindustan Times, but with Modi more serious. Some noted that the two leaders did not greet each other on camera.

With the end of the Uzbekistan summit, Modi assumed the rotating head of the SCO and was greeted by Xi and Vladimir Putin. the Indian news agency ANI highlighted the Chinese leader’s phrase that “We will support India in its presidency”.

But Pakistan, also a member of the group, said it had not yet decided whether to participate in the summit, to be held in the Indian capital, New Delhi, as reported by the Deccan Herald.

In Turkey, President Tayyip Erdogan announced through the national press, using a new clipping of the general image (above), that the country’s “next step” is to enter the bloc for good. In NTV’s statement, “Erdogan: Our goal is to be a full member of the SCO.”

It was passed on by Western and Japanese agencies like Nikkei. On Bloomberg, “Turkey wants to be the first NATO member to join the China-led SCO.”

The South China Morning Post notes that “Erdogan often cites disappointment and lack of solidarity from NATO and the European Union on security issues, especially Kurdish insurgents and Greece.” In Uzbekistan, he has had bilateral meetings with Xi, Modi and Putin, but has asked and is not getting a meeting with Joe Biden this week during the UN General Assembly in the US.
