The issue of monarchy had been raised several times in Australia, the presence, however, of Elizabeth did not allow a change of regime
With her funeral Queen Elizabeth completes a cycle of 70 years, during which much has happened and much more has changed.
In Australia, immediately after the shock of the Queen’s death, the great debate opened on whether or not to maintain the monarchy in the great country of Oceania.
A discussion that did not begin now, but had been postponed long ago, as the presence of Elizabeth did not allow any change in the regime.
After her death, however, and the elevation of Charles as king, things seem to change in Australia. Immediately the subject was resumed, the discussion on the merits, however, would be lit after the completion of the protocol, out of respect for the Queen.
But it is not the only “royal” issue that concerns the distant country in the period in question.
“Lillibet” had visited Australia 16 times during her 70-year reign. On one of her 16 visits, Queen Elizabeth left a letter in Sydney. A letter, which bound the New South Wales authorities, not to open it until… 2085! The letter was given in November 1986 and no one knows what it is about.
Elizabeth’s death brought back the discussion about the mysterious letter, which, of course, will be opened in… 63 years.
