Erdogan: 2 American senators speak “positively” about selling F-16 to Turkey

Turkey last October asked the US to buy 40 Lockheed Martin Corp F-16 fighter jets and nearly 80 modernization packages for aircraft it already has.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Reuters today that he received “positive» response from two US senators he met with in New York, regarding their support for the sale of F-16 fighter jets to his country.

Turkey last October asked the US to buy 40 Lockheed Martin Corp F-16 fighter jets and nearly 80 modernization packages for aircraft it already has.

They speak positivelyErdogan told Reuters ahead of his meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

In recent days the Turkish president met with Senators Lindsey Graham and Chris Coons.

When asked if he would meet with US President Joe Biden, Erdogan replied that he would attend the reception hosted by the American leader.

According to the official schedules of both presidents, no meeting between them has been scheduled so far.
