In a particularly vindictive and disparaging manner, Tayyip Erdogan launches a new offensive against the West, the United States and – of course – against Greece and Cyprus, claiming that an attempt is being made to conduct research in a Turkish-exclusive economic zone.
Specifically, Erdogan turned in the first phase against the “Greek Cypriot administration” as he calls Cyprus, citing the theory of the Turkish continental shelf.
“We have stated that this unilateral step of the Greek Cypriot administration (Republic of Cyprus) ignores the rights of our country and the Turkish Cypriots. Because part of this permit area violates the Turkish continental shelf in the Eastern Mediterranean and ignores the rights of Turkish Cypriots who co-own the island. “We made a reminder on this issue and we expressed our regret, I hope we will overcome this and the Foreign Ministry will monitor us,” said the Turkish president.
At the same time, Tayyip Erdogan is dealing with Europe in the case of the release of businessman Osman Kavala and Selahattin Demirtas, president of a pro-Kurdish party. As he maintains, he is not going to take into account at all the EU decisions on the specific issues, characterizing them as non-existent.
“We do not recognize the decisions taken by the European Union regarding Kavala, Demirtas, this or that. It is so simple. We consider them non-existent .. In our eyes, these are invalid. How many times have we explained this. Whether they understand or not. We do not recognize the decision of the European Union above the decision of our judiciary. Let them do what they think “
Finally, Tayyip Erdogan referred to his relationship with Qatar, stating that the citizens of the Gulf country are “his brothers”.
