He said that the typhoon that hit the city was accompanied by very heavy rains and strong winds of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour.
He pointed out that a large part of Tampa was evacuated, but in the end the city was not affected as much as first estimated, as the hurricane hit 150 to 170 kilometers south of Tampa, in the city of Fort Myers.
He said more than 4 million citizens in Florida are experiencing power outages.
Ian – still a category 3 – hit on Tuesday Cubaas a result of which the whole island is plunged into darkness due to the interruption of the electricity supply.
