New Putin show from Red Square: “Welcome home”

by

Today is a “historic day, a day of truth and justice,” said the Russian president

In yet another celebratory speech, this time in a packed Red Square and just hours after the annexation of the four regions to Ukraine was signed, Vladimir Putin welcomed the residents of those regions saying they had “returned to their historic homeland”.

“Welcome home,” he characteristically said. “Victory will be ours. We will do everything to support the residents of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia,” Vladimir Putin said.

“We will do everything to raise the level of security in these lands for these people. We will do everything to restore the economy, infrastructure, build schools, new institutions, hospitals” he added in a solemn tone.

Today is a “historic day, a day of truth and justice,” he added as the crowd cheered and waved Russian flags.

“We have become stronger because we are together. We have the truth. And truth is power. It means victory. Victory will be ours.”

Earlier, in his speech at the signing of treaties on the annexation of occupied Ukrainian territories, the Russian president launched a scathing attack on the West and its allies and demanded that Kyiv return to the negotiating table.
