Ukrainian army rapidly advancing on southern front, says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message tonight that the Ukrainian army was advancing rapidly on the southern front, saying it had liberated “dozens” of communities this week temporarily seized by Russian invaders in the eastern part of the country.

“Only this week, after the Russian fake referendum, dozens of communities were liberated,” the Ukrainian president said, pointing out that these are areas located in Kherson, Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk regions — which Russia recently announced annexation.

The Russian army was retreating today in the Kharkiv region (northeast), but also in the Kherson region (south), according to maps presented by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
