German police are also warning of the possibility of new acts of sabotage against critical infrastructure

THE German Federal Police BKA considers the explosions in the pipelines Nord Stream last week it was “targeted act of sabotage” which involved state actors, according to a Spiegel magazine report citing a letter to industry representatives.

The BKA says in the letter that it does not yet have information about the perpetrator of the sabotage, but given the great complexity of the execution of the action and its corresponding preparations, the action of a state agent seems likely, the Spiegel report states. BKA has not commented on the publication.

A German government spokesman said today that all available information points to sabotage, but did not comment on whether state actors are responsible for the sabotage against the Nord Stream pipelines.

Europe is investigating the causes of explosions in three pipelines of the Nord Stream network between the territorial waters of Denmark and Sweden. Moscow was quick to point the accusations against it at the West and insisted that the US would stand to gain from doing so.

The BKA it also warns of the possibility of further acts of sabotage against critical infrastructure in the letter cited by Spiegel.

There may be sabotage “on an increasing scale in quantity and, potentially, in quality,” the BKA warns.

Attacks could be against power lines or natural gas pipelines, as well as offshore LNG terminals or wind turbines, among others, the BKA said in the letter.
