A leading member of the jihadist organization Islamic State (ISIS) was killed and another wounded during an operation by US military special forces in a community in northeastern Syria.

An eyewitness stated that US military helicopters they landed in the village after midnight and soldiers told the residents to shut themselves in their houses with the lights off.

According to a resident of the village, who spoke to Agence France-Presse (AFP), US forces “searched a house and killed one person” before “abducting” two others who were in the same house.
