Meloni, political instability and demagogic forces in Europe

However, it is a fact that the populist forces are investing in the inequalities that exist in Europe and are spreading with geometric progress. And everyone is waiting to see what the new prime minister’s priorities will be. Le Pen in the last three matches in France is gaining strength. The Swedish far-right party in Sweden it came second in the elections, in the Netherlands Vox is also gaining strength and in Spain it is the third force in Parliament. Not even a word for Hungary and Poland, as with the ruling regime they have emerged as the most xenophobic countries in Europe. It was preceded by Donald Trump’s stay in the White House from 2017-2021, which was marked by the blackest day in the history of the American Republic with the entry of his angry followers into the Capitol.

There is one big question that cannot be easily answered. Because the democratic parties, whether they sit on the right, in the central or on the left seats of the Parliaments, they are unable to respond to the concerns of the citizens. Perhaps missing great leaders is the easiest answer. The latest bad example that everyone is studying is Italy, where it could be appreciated that the citizens once again questioned the E.U. and its policies. The big bet is that abstention combined with the protest vote can be limited. Those who do not care to vote come in large numbers either from the lower social classes or from the youth. Stability also plays an extremely important role. In Italy it is unique that since 1945 there have been a total of 69 governments. The new majority of the “three” that will be formed does not count, as no one can know if it will last long. The statistics, however, are not on her side, as in the neighboring country the majorities that are formed last a little more than a year. Italian analysts argue that Georgia Meloni will attempt to force the moderate turn which she herself did to her partners in the pre-election period. According to the leaks so far, out of a total of eighteen ministers, the Brothers of Italy are expected to secure ten ministries, the League four and Berlusconi’s Forza Italia another four. Despite the solidarity they show among themselves – Meloni addressed a gathering of the Spanish VOX – for all the above political entities or alliances there is an inviolable rule. Demagogic and populist forces cannot withstand too much exposure. They usually fall in the eyes of their constituents whom circumstance has led them to support. Whether they come to power or gain power in Parliament their popularity proves to be temporary and they are stripped bare.
