Kremlin: Meeting Putin Erdogan – Peace proposals for Ukraine likely to be considered

“Now many say that the Turks are ready to present other initiatives in the framework of the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict,” Usakov said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Kazakhstan tomorrow for talks in which the Turks are expected to present peace proposals for Ukraine, the Kremlin’s foreign policy adviser said today. Yuri Ushakov.

“Now many say that the Turks are ready to present other initiatives in the framework of the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict,” Usakov said.

“The Turks offer mediation. If (Russian-Ukrainian) contacts were to take place, they would take place on Turkish soil,” Kremlin diplomatic adviser Yury Usakov told reporters.

“There are reports in the press that the Turkish side is formulating specific thoughts on this matter, and I do not rule out that Erdogan will actively raise this issue during the meeting in Astana. So, a very interesting and, I hope, useful discussion awaits us”, said Ushakov.

Ushakov again praised Turkey’s position, which he said “does not accede in principle to the illegal Western sanctions” imposed on Russia over its attack on Ukraine.

Erdogan has met with Putin three times in the past three months and has regular talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Turkish president has long supported talks between the two men.

Yesterday, the head of Turkish diplomacy, Mevlut Cavusoglu, called for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine “as soon as possible”.

“The sooner the better,” he said in a television interview.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated yesterday, speaking at the extraordinary meeting of G7 leaders, that there is nothing to negotiate with Vladimir Putin, who claimed the annexation of four Ukrainian regions in September, apart from Crimea in 2014 .

Reacting to these statements of the Ukrainian president, Yuri Ushakov told reporters today: “I would like to tell him that you should never say ‘never'”.
