“The primary goal we share with our NATO allies, Turkey and Greece, is to ensure peace, security and stability throughout the region,” the US ambassador to Ankara said.
“Washington has not changed its position in the Aegean and we do not support any side. Our cooperation with Greece in the defense sector is aimed at strengthening NATO’s eastern wing,” said the US ambassador to Ankara, Jeff Flake.
In a statement issued by the US embassy in Ankara, as reported by SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis, American ambassador Jeff Flake states:
“Recently I was asked the question of whether there has been a change in the US position on security in the Aegean. My answer to this question is ‘no’. Our defense cooperation with Greece strengthens NATO’s eastern flank, supporting Ukraine and our NATO allies in Central and Eastern Europe.
“The primary goal we share with our NATO allies, Turkey and Greece, is to ensure peace, security and stability throughout the region.”
