Iran: Dozens of children dead from bullets and beatings in the protests

An unspecified number of children were also arrested during raids on schools and some were sent for “psychological treatment”, according to the UN.

Until 23 children have already been killed by the ongoing protests in Iranas a representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said today in a briefing in Geneva.

These deaths were caused by real firemetal pellets shot at close range and fatal beatingsthe agency announced.

Also, an unspecified number of children were arrested during raids on schools and some were sent for “psychological treatment”.

More than 120 protesters have been killed so far since the crackdown on protests in Iran, which erupted on September 16 after the death of the 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish Mahsa Aminiaccording to the latest tally by the Oslo-based non-governmental organization Iran Human Rights (IHR).

The death of Amini was the reason for the outbreak of this protest movement. The young Iranian woman died three days after she was arrested by the morality police for not wearing her hijab properly.

As reported by the IHR, 122 people have lost their lives during the suppression of the protests taking place in several cities of Iran.
