Some French media report that the killer had recently argued with the girl’s janitors-parents and they suggest that it may be an “act of revenge”, while others present her as “mentally disturbed”, citing the testimonies of her sister, her friends, and possibly her investigators. What is certain, however, is that, based on what was recorded by the security cameras, the killer and the victim appeared on the afternoon of Friday, June 21, entering the apartment building together in the early afternoon and a few hours later the twenty-four-year-old left the building alone , carrying a box inside which the body of the twelve-year-old girl was found in the evening.
The girl’s parents had reported their daughter missing since noon, when they found that she did not return home from her school.
This tragic event has been shocking French public opinion for a week now, with many French media outlets pointing out that both the killer and the victim, whose photos have been released, are what the press calls “the girls next door”. Indicative is the fact that psychological support units provide help primarily to the classmates of the twelve-year-old girl, but also to the police officers who from the first moment took over the case, without unfortunately being able to save his life.
Yesterday, Thursday, there were “gatherings of support and protest” with the participation of executives of far-right parties, while the tragic parents, who were met and condoled on Tuesday by French President Emmanuel Macron, have stated that they do not wish the political exploitation of their daughter’s murder .
