A man in his 20s broke into a school in St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday (24) and shot dead at least two people before being killed by police.
Local police commissioner Michael Sack said six other people were injured. The crime took place around 9 am, local time (11 am in Brasília). When agents arrived at the school, a group of students were running out of the building shouting that the shooter was carrying a long gun.
Some students barricaded the doors and huddled in the corners of classrooms to try to protect themselves. Others fled through the windows and ran to flee the building, according to local media.
The police commissioner confirmed the deaths of at least one teenage girl and one adult woman, but did not say if she was a teacher.
According to city officials, the school had at least seven security officers guarding different entry points. It is unclear how the shooter managed to enter the building.
The identities of the victims and the shooter have not yet been revealed.
