“You see what Russia is doing, everyone sees it. You, your children, all of your vulnerable relatives who are sick, have limited mobility or are elderly,” Vereschuk said. “We have to survive this winter.”

But next spring, she said she is looking forward to many returning to their homes to rebuild what has been destroyed and send their children to Ukrainian schools.

Russian military with missile strikes and drone attacks since October 10 it has destroyed many power supply facilities and heating in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government sees behind it the Kremlin’s goal to reduce revenues from electricity exports, demoralize Ukrainians in the resistance and trigger a new wave of refugees in other European countries.

According to the UNHCR, 7.7 million Ukrainian refugees have been registered in other European countries since the start of the war in Russia on February 24.

There are also many millions of internally displaced people.
