The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, has decided to keep Jeremy Hunt as the British government’s Minister of Finance, Downing Street announced.
Mr Hunt replaced Kwasi Kwarteng in the post 11 days ago and has been tasked with presenting the crucial Medium-Term Budget next Monday.
After a series of resignations and dismissals of officials of the Tras government, Mr. Sunak continues on Tuesday night the formation of the new ministerial scheme.
His close ally Dominic Raab returns to the government as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, two posts he has held in the past.
James Cleverley, a supporter of Boris Johnson, remains Foreign Secretary, while Mr Johnson’s friend Ben Wallace is retained at the Ministry of Defence.
Simon Hart has been appointed to the government role of Party Discipline Officer.
Tory officials from all wings have been invited to Downing Street, such as Suella Braverman and Nadeem Zahawi from the far right of the party’s political spectrum, but also the more moderate Mel Strid, Grant Shapps and Oliver Dowden. They await the assignment of government posts.
