“During this period, no ship will depart from Ukraine,” the Turkish Defense Ministry announced
Inspections of ships loaded with Ukrainian grain will continue “today and tomorrow” in Istanbul, announced the Ministry of Defense of Turkey, after Moscow suspended its participation in the agreement reached in the summer with the mediation of Ankara.
“It is planned to continue the inspection of the ships loaded with grain and waiting in Istanbul, today and tomorrow,” the announcement states.
Russians working at the city’s Joint Coordination Center (JCC) remain there. “During this period no ship will depart from Ukraine”, he added. The ministry said Russia had informed Ankara of its decision, after a source in the Turkish security services earlier said Turkey had not been “officially” informed.
The ministry added that Defense Minister Hulusi Akar is in consultation with his counterparts to repeat this “successful” agreement and reminded them that it is important to continue its implementation “for all humanity”.
Turkey asked all sides to avoid “provocations” that could affect the continued implementation of the agreement.
