It is noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in the evening that Ukrainian forces repelled a “fierce attack” by Russian military forces in the eastern Donetsk province.

Zelensky stressed that a military unit from Chop in western Ukraine attempted to repel the attack, but did not specify where the clash took place.

“Today they stopped the fierce aggressive actions of the enemy,” Zelensky said in his nightly speech. “Russian attack repelled”.

The Ukrainian president hinted at the same time that Russian soldiers were captured.

The heaviest fighting in Donetsk province has taken place around the towns of Bakhmut and Avdiivka.
