“My personal position and that of Ukraine is that if the leader of the Russian Federation participates, (then) Ukraine will not take part,” the Ukrainian president stressed.

Ukraine will not participate in the G20 summit scheduled for mid-November in Indonesia if the Russian president takes part in it, Volodymyr Zelensky said at a joint press conference in Kyiv with the president of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou .

“My personal position and that of Ukraine is that if the leader of the Russian Federation participates, (then) Ukraine will not take part,” the Ukrainian president stressed.

Vladimir Putin, invited by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, has yet to say whether or not he has decided to attend the G20 summit in Bali in person.

“Let’s see, there are a few days left,” Zelensky continued.

The Ukrainian president was invited to the summit by Indonesia, even though Ukraine is not a member of the G20. Kyiv has so far said it would participate in the summit, at least online.

Jakarta, for its part, came under pressure from the West to exclude Putin from the summit after it was announced in April that the Russian president had been invited. To this day, Indonesia maintains a neutral stance towards the war in Ukraine.

Last week, US President Joe Biden said he had “no intention” of having a bilateral meeting at this summit with Putin.
