“I know there’s a range of different emotions. I want to say up front that I take full responsibility for this decision,” says Zuckerberg.

NBC has released video of Mark Zuckerberg announcing the largest layoff in Facebook history, amounting to the loss of 11,000 jobs.

The video was leaked by a worker who lost his job, shot casually on a cellphone.

“I know there’s a range of different emotions. I want to say up front that I take full responsibility for this decision,” says Zuckerberg.

“I’m the founder and CEO, I’m responsible for the health of our company, for our direction and for deciding how we’re going to execute it,” he said, adding, “including things like this.”

He then told those fired that he took “full responsibility” for the decision.

“It was one of the hardest calls I’ve had to make in 18 years of running the company,” the CEO said, adding, “Obviously, it has a big impact on your life. But also for our mission.”

“We’re losing people who have really put their heart and soul into this place,” he added.

“No matter what team you may have worked on, each of you played a role in contributing to the products that billions of people use to connect every day. Each of you is talented and passionate, and each of you has played a role in making Meta successful,” he summed up.

In the footsteps of Elon Musk who proceeded to mass layoffs on twitter is marching Mark Zuckerberg, which announced via e-mail that Meta will cut 13% of its jobs – a figure corresponding to 11,000 layoffs. “Sorry, we made a mistake,” reads the email sent by Meta’s owner, who attributes the decision to mass layoffs to the “weak advertising market.”
