“The Russian announcement of withdrawal from Kherson marks another strategic failure for them,” British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said.
Britain said Russia’s withdrawal from the only regional capital of Ukraine it has seized since the start of the Russian invasion in February was another humiliation for its military, but the Moscow still a threat.
“The Russian announcement of withdrawal from Kherson marks another strategic failure for them,” British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said in a statement today.
“In February, Russia failed to realize any of its serious objectives beyond the Kherson, and now with its surrender, ordinary Russians should be asking themselves, ‘What was all this for?'”said Wallace.
Friday’s Russian withdrawal marked the third largest Russian withdrawal of the war and the first involving the abandonment of such a major city.
According to Wallace, the Russian military suffered a great loss in human life and the opposite of international isolation and humiliation, while the Ukraine will push with the support of Britain and the international community.
“Despite the fact that the withdrawal is welcome, no one will underestimate the constant threat from the Russian Federation,” he concluded.
