Tragedy struck at an air show in Dallas when two small planes collided mid-air with spectators witnessing the horrific crash.

Video shows a World War II-era B-17 bomber heading into the flight path of a much smaller plane over Dallas Executive Airport Saturday afternoon.

Wings Over Dallas is an air show hosted by the Commemorative Air Force, a World War II aircraft preservation organization based at Red Bird Airport.

Viewers of the show experienced scenes of horror as the wreckage of the two planes crashed onto a highway and burst into flames.

It is not yet known how many people were on board the two aircraft, which were a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra.

Highway 67 in Texas has remained closed and the fire department is at the scene of the tragedy.
