Shocking images from videos showing the moment of the explosion – Six dead and 53 injured – The area is cordoned off by Turkish security forces

The elements of the terrorist attack at its center Istanbul gather the Turkish authorities, in order to get to the end of the thread and locate the source of the deadly energy in one of the most commercial streets of the City, at noon on Sunday.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan referred to a woman who is suspected of organizing the attack with the explosive device. However, it has not been clarified if this woman is alive, or if she has been found among the bodies found at the scene.

In the video from security camera store, which has “caught” the moment of the explosion, one can distinguish a woman dressed in black, with a backpack on her back. Immediately after, the explosion takes place, centered on this particular woman.

At the time of the explosion, fire can be seen coming out of the rucksack and people falling unconscious to the ground. There are several women at the scene, either walking or sitting on the two benches.

According to the statements of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the number of confirmed dead is 6, while there are many more 53 wounded.

According to the Greek consul in Istanbul, Georgia Sultanopoulou, there are no Greeks among the injured.

Early images showed people running away from the scene of the explosion, as well as a large number of fire engines rushing to the area.

As reported by Turkish media, the explosion occurred on Istiklal Avenue, in the Beyoğlu district. The explosion occurred on a central shopping street, while it was full of people.

The Turkish security forces have cordoned off the area in a large radius, while an effort is being made to immediately remove the citizens who are in nearby places.

What eyewitnesses say

No one has claimed responsibility for the blast, but Istanbul and other Turkish cities have been targeted in the past by Kurdish separatists, Islamist militants and other groups.

“When I heard the explosion, I froze in fear, people froze, looking at each other. Then people started running away. What else can one do,” said Mehmet Akous, 45, a restaurant worker in Istiklal.

“My relatives called me, they know I work in Istiklal. I reassured them,” he told Reuters.

A helicopter was flying over the blast site and several ambulances were stationed in nearby Taksim Square.

Kasimbasa Police Station said all police forces in the department have been deployed to the scene, but did not provide further details.

Local media reported that Istanbul’s general prosecutor’s office had launched an investigation into the explosion.

The Turkish Red Crescent said units of blood were being transported to nearby hospitals.

If confirmed, it would be the first major bomb blast in Istanbul in several years.

A twin bombing outside an Istanbul football stadium in December 2016 killed 38 people and injured 155 in an attack claimed by an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
