Police have identified the shooter as Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. – a student – and believe he is armed and dangerous.
Three people were killed and two others were wounded Sunday when a gunman walked into the main square of the University of Virginia campus on Culbreth Street and opened fire.
The perpetrator of the attack has been identified as a student and is evading arrest, university president Jim Ryan said in a statement today.
The campus remains on lockdown as authorities search for the suspect.

According to the description released, he is wearing a burgundy jacket, jeans and red shoes and may be driving a black SUV.
