In an interview with CNN, Bezos said he would give away most of his fortune
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos plans to give most of his fortune, which amounts to $124 billion, to charity, as he revealed in an interview he gave last Saturday to CNN.
Asked the man who has topped the Forbes billionaires list several times and is currently second only to Elon Musk if he plans to give away most of his fortune during his lifetime, he replied: “Yes, I do.”
He said he would give most of his wealth to fighting climate change and supporting people who can unite humanity across deep social and political divides.
This is the first time Jeff Bezos has made such a statement. The revelation comes days after his critics criticized his failure to sign up to the Giving Pledge campaign, a pledge by hundreds of the world’s richest people to donate most of their wealth to charity.
