In Kyiv, the Russian Foreign Minister throws the ball for the continuation of negotiations – He described Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the G20 as a “show” – He also launched “fire” against the USA
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov dropped the ball in Ukraine regarding the continuation of negotiations, pointing out that it is the Kiev regime that refuses to negotiate, not Russia.
“We have repeatedly confirmed through our president that we do not refuse to negotiate. If anyone refuses to negotiate, it is Ukraine. The more he continues to deny [το καθεστώς του ΚιÎβου]the more difficult it will be to reach an agreement,” Sergey Lavrov clarified to reporters on Tuesday during a press conference he gave after attending the G20 summit.
At the same time, he characterized Zelensky’s video call intervention as a “show” that “goes beyond all regulation and decency”, with which the West tried to distract attention from the real agenda of the G20. Lavrov also explained that he briefly had time to discuss the Ukrainian crisis with French President Emmanuel Macron. “As I said, today I had a short conversation with President Macron, who confirmed his intention to continue contacts with President Putin in order to find some kind of agreement that will resolve the whole situation, as he said,” the Russian minister added.
In addition, he characterized rumors that the United States is preparing negotiations on Ukraine. “Regarding the reports that the Americans are preparing some kind of negotiations, this is a matter of which rumors appear constantly and with equal success. We are no longer reacting to it,” Lavrov said.
During his speech at the G20, the Russian foreign minister accused Western countries of trying to “politicize” the joint statement of the G20 Summit. In the draft statement of the G20 leaders, seen by Reuters today, it is stated that “most” members categorically condemn the war in Ukraine and underline that it is making the global economy fragile.
It is recalled that earlier the Ukrainian president presented his terms for the end of the war in Ukraine to the G20 leaders and called on them to support his plan, while a barrage of Russian missile attacks hit the whole of Ukraine.
