According to the Turkish Defense Ministry, the raids targeted Qandil, Asos and Hakurk in Iraq and Kobani, Tal Rifat, Cizre and Derik in northern Syria.

Turkey’s defense ministry said today that 89 targets, including shelters and ammunition depots, were destroyed in airstrikes against Kurdish militant bases in northern Iraq and northern Syria.

The raids targeted Qandil, Asos and Hakurk in Iraq and Kobani, Tal Rifat, Chisre and Derik in northern Syria, it said, adding that the “so-called directors of the terrorist organization were among those neutralized”.

For their part, Syrian Kurdish-led forces said they would retaliate against a series of raids by Turkish fighters that hit areas under their control in northeastern Syria overnight.

“These attacks by the Turkish occupation forces will not go unanswered,” the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) led by the People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia said in a statement.
