Nelson de Sá: Friends of Rede Globo!, says Galvão Bueno on Globo and TikTok

The narrator Luis Roberto did what he could with the inexpressive game that opened the World Cup in Qatar, in which his clichés of enthusiasm did not fit. More than the match, he faced the absence of Galvão Bueno, identified with the tournament in the spectator’s memory.

It was a relief when he announced that the incumbent had arrived — and then when he himself appeared in a hastily recorded video, on the sidewalk, with a roar of wind:

“Friends of Rede Globo! Luis Roberto, my dear Luis Roberto. You there, Caio, Roger. Much success, today, for you, Luis Roberto, your first opening broadcast. May it be the first of many.”

He added: “I wanted to say the following. Qatar left. I’m already here. It’s windy today, huh. It’s to celebrate the opening. for everybody”.

Shortly afterwards, on Globo, a TikTok commercial came on with Galvão stating that he was the new tool of the Chinese network, with his voice available to say whatever the user wanted: “Typed, activated, narrated”.

In videos on the social network (above, one of them), he had already shown all his recovery efforts, left advice about Covid and, when preparing to take the plane: “It’s gone, Qatar”.

Also the video with the message to Luis Roberto entered his profile. The narrator who should replace him at Globo replied, only in the transmission: “Xacomigo, Galvão. Garoto, bem vem!”.

The Wall Street Journal this Sunday headlines that “TikTok Keeps Hiring as Competitors Cut Jobs” across the world, from Facebook to Amazon.
