The prisons have been left without available cells England and Wales, as announced to the Parliament by the competent Deputy Minister of the Interior Damian Heinz.
The deputy minister said that the plan of emergency measures called Operation Patrol, which provides for the assistance of the police, is coming into force. According to Mr. Heinz, the plan is triggered because “a sharp and sharp increase in the prison population”.
Specifically, the government is asking police departments to temporarily allocate 400 detention centers for people who have been remanded or sentenced to prison.
The deputy minister said that in particular the number of pretrial detainees awaiting trial or sentencing has increased due to strike action by lawyers in the past period.
The last time this business was reactivated was in the period January 2007 – October 2008.
