In the state of Santa Catarina (south), the rains caused flooding and two people died: one was electrocuted, the other was crushed by a landslide. Firefighter missing.
Images released by the authorities show entire districts of the city of San Joao Batista flooded. Other images show firefighters helping residents in waist-deep water on city streets.

Torrential rains have been hitting Brazil for days. A landslide on Monday on a road in a mountainous area in the state of Parana (south) claimed the lives of two people.
Yesterday Thursday, firefighters were still searching for missing people. Their number was “reduced to less than thirty”, authorities in Parana said. Initially, they estimated that “30 to 50” were missing.
In February, 233 people died in Petropolis, a mountainous region near Rio de Janeiro that was swept by landslides and floods.
