Parents of children infected with Strep A complain to British media that they are unable to find the drugs

A 12-year-old boy is the seventh victim of the aggressive form of strep, which has recently affected children in the United Kingdom.

Britain’s health authorities have issued an urgent directive to pediatricians to immediately give children antibiotics at the first symptoms of the infection, which is usually easily treated with existing antibiotics.

However, parents of children infected with strep A are complaining to British media that they are unable to find the drugs.

Major obstacles are drug supply, rising costs and shortages of raw materials that have led to a reduced supply of amoxicillin and thus pharmacists have been left with empty shelves.

A big problem is also the difficulty of diagnosing the infection, as in the initial stage it seems to have the same symptoms as those of the flu.

Meanwhile, for years doctors have been urged to be cautious and not prescribe antibiotics unnecessarily.
