Air raid sirens sounded again today Monday shortly after 2pm in Kyiv as Russia launched a fresh barrage of missile attacks with Kiev’s governor appealing to residents to head to shelters and stay put.

“Missiles have already been launched,” said Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force. According to a senior Ukrainian official from the new Russian attacks at least two people died when the Russian missiles hit buildings in Zaporizhia, destroying several houses.

Kirill Tymoshenko, deputy head of the presidential office, did not elaborate on the attacks, Reuters reported.

At the same time, the governor of the Kiev region pointed out that the air defense is working and that some Russian missiles were shot down. It is estimated that over 100 missiles were fired by Russian bombers, according to the Guardian website.

One of the energy providers reported that electricity had been cut in the northern region of Soumi due to the latest attacks.
