The Turkish MP of the opposition party Iyi Parti (“Good Party” of Meral Aksener) is hospitalized in critical condition. Hussein Os (bottom photo center) after being hit on the head during a scuffle inside the parliament chamber. The announcement was made by a member of parliament from the same party to which the hospitalized member of parliament belongs.
MP Hussein Os was rushed to the hospital and entered an intensive care unit today in Ankara.
“We realized that his condition worsened after the blow he received on the head (…) Cardiac defibrillation was performed at the hospital,” said Iyi Parti MP Aileen Jesur.
Os, 58, is in the ICU and his condition is considered “critical,” Jessour said.
Images broadcast by Turkish media show the MP from Trabzon to be punched hard by an MP of Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
The AKP, the party of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, did not immediately comment.

The fight broke out during the 2023 budget debate.
“Our MP was the victim of a serious attack. (…) It is a day of shame for the Turkish parliament and for those who committed this act of aggression,” reacted Iyi Parti representative Kursat Zorlu.
Fights and fistfights are quite common during the tense debates in the Turkish National Assembly.
