USA: “End Titles” for Kirsten Sinema from Democrats: Senator Becomes Independent

In a video released by the 46-year-old senator, Sinema declares that she is “breaking free from the flawed, partisan system of Washington”

A senator from Arizona, Kirsten Sinema, announced Friday that he is leaving the Democratic Party but will not join the Republican Party, causing a new headache for President Joe Biden given his slim majority in the House.

In a video released by the 46-year-old Sinema, she states that “it is independent of the defective, party system of Washington”.

Biden hoped that for the rest of his term he would more easily pass bills through the Senate. In the previous two years, Democrats held 50 seats, the same as Republicans, and relied on Vice President Kamala Harris’ vote in the event of a tie. A Democrat’s victory in Georgia last week would give them another seat in that House.

Kirsten Sinema was already known for having voted against some of the Biden-promoted bills, such as major election reform. She promised that despite her independence “nothing will change” in the way she conducts politics.

In a visit to Arizona this week, Biden welcomed Sinema’s action, calling it “excellent representative of the inhabitants” of the State.
