The artists were detained for 10 days on charges of making videos that “violate the law”.
Two female actors and a theater director were released on bail in Iran today after 10 days in detention for filming a video “that violated the law”, Isna news agency reported.
“Theater director Hamid Pourazani, actors Soheila Golestani and Faezeh Aeen were released this evening,” Isna reported.
The first two were accused of filming a video, which went viral, in which Soheila Golestani walks in a park, without a headscarf, dressed in black, stops in front of steps and looks at the camera, before being approached by nine others women and five men, who take the same pose.
Protests continue in Iran that began on September 16 following the death of Mahsha Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish woman, after she was arrested by morality police for what police said was a violation of the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code.
Authorities, who denounce “riots” that they say are encouraged by the West, say thousands have been arrested in connection with the protests.
