National Highways warned of ‘dangerous conditions’ – A series of yellow warnings have been issued for snow, ice and fog across the UK

Transportation is in a state of paralysis in Britain because of the snow. The wave of bad weather resulted in the cancellation of dozens of flights to and from Heathrow Airport in London. Frost and fog are expected to cause further chaos during the day, while temperatures of up to -10 degrees Celsius are expected. Due to the wave of bad weather, railway routes were also suspended, while in central England significant delays are recorded in the railway network.

In particular, more than 50 flights were canceled at Heathrow on Sunday after fog resulted in air traffic control restrictions on the number of aircraft that could land and depart per hour.

British Airways, Heathrow’s largest airline has said it has apologized to customers and is reimbursing or rebooking travelers affected by cancellations, while providing hotel vouchers where appropriate. He said Heathrow would again restrict flights in and out of the airport on Monday, meaning more disruption.

Gatwick Airport temporarily closed one of its runways on Sunday and reopened it at 20:00 (local time) when weather conditions were safer. Some flights were delayed or cancelled, while another 28 were diverted to other airports during the closure.

Jersey Airport in St Peter, in the Channel Islands, also closed its runway due to the frost.

Britain’s National Highways Agency warned of “dangerous conditions” in South East and East Anglia on Monday morning, with drivers expecting significant delays in both directions. Britain’s civil protection service is urging people not to travel.
