UK inflation eased slightly to 10.7% in November from 11.1% in October.

The Office for National Statistics reported that the fall in inflation was mainly due to the downward trend in fuel prices, which, in addition to the reduction in the price of oil worldwide, also contributed to the strengthening of sterling against the dollar.

Specifically, fuel prices increased by 17.2% in November compared to a year ago, while the corresponding increase in October was 22.2%.

On the contrary, the maintenance of inflation at high levels is mainly attributed to rising prices in catering, especially due to alcoholic beverages.

Prices in restaurants, cafes, pubs and hotels are rising at the fastest rate since 1991, namely by 10.2%.

In general, the individual food inflation stood at 16.4%.

Opposition Labor commented that double-digit inflation has become “the norm” under the Conservatives.
