Maria Zakharova said the US is also pushing other NATO countries for “more significant” military support in Ukraine
Russia on Thursday threatened the United States not to send the Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine, saying otherwise it “dangers direct involvement of Washington in the ongoing conflict”.
“Many experts, including those abroad, doubt the wisdom of such a step, which would lead to an escalation of the conflict and increase the risk of direct involvement of the US military in the hostilities,” said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, at a press conference.
Maria Zakharova said the US was also pushing other NATO countries for “more significant” military support to Ukraine.
Russia considers all weapons supplied to Ukraine as “legitimate military targets” that will be “destroyed or confiscated,” Zakharova said.
Besides, Russia questioned its suitability Lynn Tracy who was nominated by President Joe Biden to be the next US ambassador to Moscow, hinting that she might feel more comfortable “in a hard-line think tank”.
The State Department spokeswoman also said that comments by Tracy to the media and to a US Senate committee show that she believes tougher sanctions against Moscow are the right way forward for bilateral relations.
“Does he really want to come to us? Not to some pro-war think tank?Zakharova asked sharply.
