A vehicle rigged with explosives exploded while a bus carrying police officers was passing by – Suleiman Soylu: “Two people were gathered”

A terrorist attack occurred at 6:10 a.m. (Greece time) in southeastern Turkey in the province of Diyarbakir according to the authorities. Eight police officers and one civilian have been injured. The explosion occurred about 10 kilometers south of the center of Diyarbakir, the capital and largest city of the province of the same name, where most of the population belongs to the Kurdish minority.

The attack took place with the tactic of a vehicle rigged with explosives, which exploded while a bus carrying police officers was passing, reported SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis.

Turkey

The Minister of Interior of Turkey Suleiman Soylu announced via Twitter that “two people believed to be the perpetrators of the incident have been arrested”.

For his part, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced that “the general condition of our wounded who were taken by ambulance to the hospitals is good”, and he wished them a good recovery.

There has been no claim of responsibility at this stage. Kurdish, far-left as well as Islamist groups have carried out bombings in Turkey in the past, and the response from Ankara, which has already launched operations in Kurdish positions in Syria and Iraq after the Istanbul terror attack, is expected to be harsh.

Last month, a bomb blast in the heart of Istanbul claimed the lives of six people. Dozens of suspects, including a Syrian woman, were arrested.

Turkey blamed Kurdish separatist rebels for the attack, but there was no claim of responsibility either.

In contrast, both the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) denied any involvement.
