Baroness Hussey: Prince Harry’s godmother apologizes after furore with her racist questions

Susan Hussey was removed from her royal duties after she persistently asked black Engozi Fulani where she was from.

The godmother of Prince William, the heir to the British throne, met the head of a charity to offer her sincere apologies for comments she made about her race and nationality at an official palace reception last month. Buckingham announced today.

Fulani was born in Britain and works for a support group for victims of domestic violence.

The African-American Fulani’s Twitter account of her conversation with Hussey sparked a firestorm of comments from netizens, including the British Prime Minister.

In its statement, Buckingham Palace cited “unacceptable comments” and announced the resignation of Baroness Hussey, who has been at Queen Elizabeth II’s side for more than 60 years.
