Call on Brussels to lift all restrictions that directly or indirectly affect Russian grain and fertilizer exports
The EU’s latest round of sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine will only worsen problems within the bloc, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today.
EU leaders agreed this week to provide 18 billion euros in funding to Ukraine next year and impose a ninth package of sanctions on Moscow.
Among other things, the latest measures blacklist almost 200 more people and ban investments in the mining industry.
“The present ‘package’ will have the same effects as all the previous ones — the worsening of socio-economic problems in the EU itself,” ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement.
She called on Brussels to lift all restrictions that directly or indirectly affect Russian grain and fertilizer exports.
On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin said Russia would expand trade cooperation with new partners, including a sharp increase in natural gas exports to China to counter Western sanctions.
