“It’s so inspiring to see the newfound love for free speech from the press,” the tycoon said Friday, with the signature kiss-off emoji. In fact, the tweet was “pinned” and remains first on his profile.

Musk, the new owner of Twitter, on Friday caused an outcry, and a warning of sanctions from the European Union, when he suspended the accounts of American journalists.

The accounts of about 12 American journalists on the social network had been disabled. Some had cited Twitter’s decision on Wednesday to suspend an account that automatically recorded the routes of Elon Musk’s private jet.

Following the outcry, Musk launched a Twitter “poll” on whether journalists’ accounts should be reinstated, with 58.7% of participants to declare in favor of their immediate rehabilitation.

“The people have spoken. Accounts that posted personal information about my location will now be unsuspended,” the businessman said via Twitter.
