The country is preparing for all possible defense scenarios, says President Zelensky

Zelensky made his remarks on the eve of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Belarus amid speculation of a possible new attack from Moscow and claims that it could come from Belarusian soil.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that protecting Ukraine’s borders is a “permanent priority” and that his country is ready for all possible scenarios against Russia and its ally Belarus.

“Protecting our borders, both with Russia and Belarus – is our constant priority,” Zelensky said in a video speech this evening. “We are preparing for all possible defense scenarios,” he added.

Zelensky made his remarks on the eve of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Belarus amid speculation of a possible new attack from Moscow and claims that it could come from Belarusian soil.

In his speech, the Ukrainian president made a new appeal to Western nations to provide Ukraine with effective air defense. At the same time, he stressed that Ukrainian forces are in control of the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, where some of the fiercest fighting is raging.
