Political crisis in Peru: President Dina Bolluarte moves forward with a reshuffle

In a state of emergency the government of Peru for 30 days, with the presence of strong armed forces

The Peruvian president Dina Boluartestating that the government formed after the suspension and arrest of its predecessor Pedro Castillo on December 7 is transitorysaid yesterday Sunday that he will name a new prime minister and proceed with a reorganization.

Mrs. Bolluarte, Peru’s vice president until his removal from office and his imprisonment, is faced with widespread demonstrations and bloody riots with some twenty dead. Her government declared a state of emergency emergency for 30 days and deployed the armed forces to restore order.

Mrs. Boluarte told a Peruvian television network that the government reshuffle will happen today and tomorrow Tuesday. Last week, the education and culture ministers resigned over the deaths in the riots.

Many of the victims were children and teenagers.

The head of state said last Saturday that she believes that ministers “with expertise” should take over in each field. He did not make clear who plans to replace Prime Minister Pedro Angulo.
