The new discovery in the Cypriot AOZ will probably be announced today by ENI, according to the newspaper I Kathimerini
A new natural gas field in the “Zeus 1” target was detected by the drilling rig of the ENI-TotalEnergies consortium in the Cypriot EEZ. This is a deposit larger than that of “Cronos 1” discovered by the Italian-French consortium in the same block (plot 6) on August 22.
Preliminary estimates indicate a deposit of 3.5 trillion. cubic feet, which if added to the “Glaukos” field (5-8 trillion cubic feet), “Cronos 1” (2.5 trillion cubic feet) and “Aphrodite” (4.2 trillion cubic feet) raises the potential capacity of Cyprus to 15.2-18.2 trillion. cubic feet. At 6-8 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves are estimated at the Calypso field, but activity so far has not confirmed a target.
The new discovery in the Cypriot AOZ, which will probably be announced today by ENI, creates more favorable conditions for the exploitation of the “Kronos 1” deposit in the same block, but also of the “Glaukos” deposit which is located nearby and which, under conditions, it can develop into the largest deposit in Cyprus.
