Vladimir Putin’s comments come in the wake of the Washington Post’s report that the White House is considering three scenarios for ending the war
Putin the peacemaker. The Russian president said on Thursday that “Russia wants an end to the war in Ukraine” and that “all armed conflicts end with diplomatic negotiations”.
The Russian president’s statements come in the wake of the Washington Post’s report that the White House is considering three scenarios for ending the war, two of which have been rejected by Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Our goal is not to turn the flywheel of military conflict, but rather to end this war. We are striving for it and we will continue to strive,” Putin told reporters. “We will work hard for it to be given an end to it, and the sooner the better, of course” he commented.
At the same time, the Russian president claimed that the Patriot air defense system that the US will deliver to Ukraine is a obsolete weapon system which Russia will be able to counter as it does not work like the Russian S-300 system.
“Okay, we’ll take that into account, and there will always be an antidote,” he added.
