Kurds call for silent protest this afternoon at site of murderous attacks
THE 69 years old man suspected of killing three Kurds in Paris last week it has been placed under official investigation, as announced by the French capital’s public prosecutor’s office.
The man, whose name has not been released, was arrested on Friday after two men and a woman were fatally shot at a Kurdish cultural center and a nearby cafe in Paris’s bustling 10th arrondissement.
The killings shocked the Kurdish community, which was preparing to mark the 10th anniversary of the unsolved killing of three activists, sparking protests that turned into clashes with police over the weekend.
According to French law, when a suspect is placed under official investigation, it means that there is serious and solid evidence pointing to the main suspect for committing the crime.
The investigation is being conducted by a dedicated judge who will consider the charges of committing a crime, attempted murder, and illegal possession of a weapon, according to a statement from the prosecutor’s office.
Kurdish representatives called for the killing to be considered a terrorist attack. The Kurds are calling for a silent protest this afternoon at the scene of the murderous attacks.
